Lake Vyrnwy has numerous walking routes that weave in and out of the forests and take you along side the lake. Whether you are a hardened hill walker or a casual ambler, you are always spoilt for choice at Lake Vyrnwy. With plenty to explore and stunning views as your reward, you'll not go away without fond memories.
There are 4 main trails at Lake vyrnwy, but unlimited possibilities depending on how adventurous you're feeling!

Craig Garth Bwlch Nature Trail - This is a 3 mile trail that starts and finishes at the Visitor Centre. It takes you through forestry tracks, field paths and along minor roads. The walk takes about 2 hours. Follow the BLUE markers.
- Grwn Oer Nature Trail - A shorter trail (1 hour, 1.5 miles), that also takes you along forest tracks and field paths. This walk offers a fantastic view of the dam, all year round! Follow the YELLOW markers.
- The Water Trail - This trail takes you below the dam and, with information points, explains the main functions and operations of the dam.
- Rhiwargor Nature Trail - Located at the North end of the Lake, the Rhiwargor Trail takes you to the RSPB centenary hide, overlooking a lagoon brimming with wildlife, and also to the waterfall, hidden in the hills!. The perfect place to enjoy a picnic. This trail takes about 1½ hours to complete
Sculptures and Picnics
There are lots of places to stop off and enjoy picnics and take in the breathtaking beauty of Lake Vyrnwy. There are also a wealth of sculptures (and enormous picnic tables!) around Lake Vyrnwy; Dragon Fly, Badgers, Dolphins, Pecking order pole, Otters and many more below the dam.
