Harlech Castle

Caernarfon Castle
The mighty Caernarvon is possibly the most stricking Welsh medieval monument. Another of Edward 1st great constructions. Construction began in 1283, not just for a military stronghold but for a seat of government and royal palace.

Dolwyddelan Castle
Built in Snowdonia in 1220 by Llewelyn the Great to control a strategic pass through his mountainous kingdom. The sweeping mountain views from the battlements are truely stunning!

Criccieth Castle
On commanding headland looking onto Tremadog Bay, is a castle that has had it's feet in both camps. Originally Welsh, then English, then re-captured and burnt by the Welsh leader Owain Gly Dwr in 1404!

Valle Crucis Abbey
The evocative ruins of Valle Crucis are found in the green fields beneath Llangollen's steep-sided mountains. The Abbey has fared well over time and many original features remain, including a richly carved door and rose window.

Rug Chapel
A delightful religious site that is a rare example of a little altered private chapel of the 17th century. The chapel is filled with fantastic carvings and elaborate roof decor.

Llangar Church
Llangar is an excellent example of a rustic parish church, with 15th century wall paintings, 17th century figure of death, old beams, box pews and a pulpit and minstrels gallery.
